Kroužkování na řece Odiel - potápky a plameňáci/Ringings on the river Odiel - grebes and flamingos

Na řeku Odiel jsem se podíval celkem čtyřikrát - třikrát na kroužkování potápek černokrkých a jednou na kroužkování plameňáků.

Potápky černokrké (Podiceps nigricollis) pelichající v létě na řece Odiel pocházejí z populace hnízdící v Bělorusku. Samotná hnízdící populace je zde malá. Při odchytu se utvoří řada lidí, která jde do vody s dlouhou sítí a pelichající potápky neschopné letu se ženou do slepého bodu, odkud nemohou utéct. Tam se potom hromadně chytají. Posléze se kroužkují a pokud se jim nebere externě krev, tak i vypouštějí.

Plameňáci starosvětští (Phoenicopterus roseus) hnízdí na řece Odiel teprve druhým rokem. Jedná se o introdukovanou populaci. Kroužkování se účastní mnoho (více jak 300 dobrovolníků a celá akce se děje za velké účasti médií. V průběhu našeho odchytu nás natáčela španělská televize Canal Sur. Metodika odchytu spočívá ve vytvoření kruhu okolo mladých, ještě nelétajících plameňáků. Hejno se postupně nažene ke břehu, kde čeká úzký trychtýř, kterým ptáci vcházejí do malého výběhu, kde je možné je chytit a okroužkovat.

I went totally four times to the river Odiel - three times to ring the Black-necked Grebes and once to ring the Flamingos.

Black-necked Grebes (Podiceps nigricollis) moulting on the river Odiel during the summer come from nesting population in Belarusia. The local nesting population here is smaller. To catch them the line of the people has to be made. All of them enter to the water with a long net and moultling grebes that cannot fly are driven to a blind point where they cannot escape. After they´re caught, ringed and if the blood collection is not required, we give them freedom.

Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber) nest the second year only on the river Odiel. The population is introduced. More than 300 persons participate on the ringing and all the activity has a big interest of the mediums. During the ringing spanish television Canal Sur was present. The metodic is based on making of the circle around the non-flying flamingo chicks and all the birds are driven to the coast to a funnel through which they come to a bigger run where is possible to catch and ring them.
